I am a native English-speaking Canadian living in Japan. All of my PCs have English operating systems. However, when using most browsers and search engines, the Japanese versions always seem to come up ion my screen.

I don't want the Japanese versions of Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc... I want the English .com versions. Is there anything I can do so that each and every time I open a browser I can get the English .com sites rather than the Japanese ones?

If you have a Google account, you can click "settings" or "preferences" and choose a default Google (you want Google.en) When my computer forgets its cookies, I have to go that same page to get links I click to open in a new window. Let us know if that fixes the problem.
