Hello gypsy71,

Welcome to Geekstogo.

I see you have RootkitUnhooker on your machine. Do you have a log from that and can you post it back here?

Now

Please run OTL.exe
  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

    :OTL
    O3 - HKLM\..\Toolbar: (no name) - {CCC7A320-B3CA-4199-B1A6-9F516DD69829} - No CLSID value found.
    O3 - HKLM\..\Toolbar: (no name) - Locked - No CLSID value found.
    O3 - HKCU\..\Toolbar\WebBrowser: (no name) - {30F9B915-B755-4826-820B-08FBA6BD249D} - No CLSID value found.
    O3 - HKCU\..\Toolbar\WebBrowser: (no name) - {9565115D-C7D6-46D3-BD63-B67B481A4368} - No CLSID value found.
    O3 - HKCU\..\Toolbar\WebBrowser: (no name) - {CCC7A320-B3CA-4199-B1A6-9F516DD69829} - No CLSID value found.

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [emptyflash]
    [resethosts]
    [Reboot]
  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot when it is done
  • It will produce a log for you on reboot, please post that log in your next reply.
So when you return please post
  • a log from RKUnhooker if you have it
  • OTL fix log
Note: Unless otherwise instructed always post the logs in the forum. If they don't fit just use as many posts as you need, that's fine. :D

Hello gypsy71,

Further to my last post.

Here is the next action we want to take.

Note: When you return to post the results from this scan just come to this thread and use the Add Reply button. It will open a panel that you can paste your reply into. Then just press Add Reply again and voila your reply will be here. :D

Now

Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.

How to disable AVG's Resident Shield.

Right click the AVG icon and click Open.

In the Overview panel click on Resident Shield > Uncheck the Resident Shield Active box > Save Changes.

    After that:
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Posted Image

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Posted Image

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

**Note: Do not mouseclick combo-fix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

When finished, it will produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Hi gypsy71,

Sorry for the delay in getting back. Had to step out for a short while.

combofix.exe does not work..it refuses to open says i must use a alhanumeric name? it made me uninstall my antivirus software

I take it that means you were able to download it but it didn't want to work?

Assuming that is the case, can you remember exactly what it said?

Hmm...

Okay let's do this:

Please check that your Java is up to date. Older versions are vunerable to attack.

Follow these steps:

  • Download from here Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Update
  • Scroll to where it says "Windows 7/Vista/2000/2003/2008 online" and download and follow the instructions.

    Reboot your computer.
You also need to uininstall older versions of Java.
  • Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
  • Remove all Java updates except the latest one you have just installed.
After that

Kaspersky on line scanner is very thorough. It can take a long time and for periods may seem not to be working. Just be patient and let it do its job.

Kaspersky works with Internet Explorer and Firefox 3. It uses Java Runtime Environment (JRE) .

Go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

Note: you will need to turn off your security programs to allow Kaspersky to do its job.
Note2: If during the running of Kaspersky it stops because of a script running just agree to continue.

  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.
