Need Some Help (No Sound)

Hey Everyone,

I'm trying to figure out what would be the cause of the issue I'm encountering. I just got an alienware aurora alx with a creative sound blaster sx-fi sound card. The operating system I'm running is windows 7 x64 bit. When i got to the playback devices and select speakers I don't get any sound. When I select spdif out, I get sound but I cant use the creative control panel or any of the other software that came with the sound card itself. I'm adamant that there must be some setting that I'm missing or need to tweak and that there isn't anything wrong with the hardware itself. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
