PC trojan "dropper" virus tagged and quarantined in notepad.exe file. How to recover notepad.exe to run saved files within? Thanks.

Goto START>RUN and type sfc /scannow

You will need your WinXP CD in order to fix the corrupted windows system files, if found by scan.

ah...sorry...I'm running Windows ME, also sfc/scannow wouldn't run, either. I know I can get to the files using Wordpad, but I'd still like to fix Notepad, as well as get this bug out of quarantine. Thanks in advance.

Click Here to download Notepad.exe for Windows ME. Unzip it first into the folder C:\WINDOWS\Options\cabs (overwriting any existing copy), then into the C:\Windows folder.

Should work now <_<
