changing startup programs?

I wasn't too sure where this would go so i just stuck it in the general one for my OS, sorry if it's in the wrong place, but how do i change which programs run on startup? I remember doing it years ago but I cant remember how I did it, and it's probably changed anyway (I think the last time I did it was Windows 98). I'm running Windows Vista at the moment.

If you want to prevent a program from starting up, click on start, in the search box type msconfig and hit enter. Click on the startup tab, and clear the tickmark from the program that you don't wish to start.
