^My original thread

I packed this computer up and recently tried using it again. I had a few viruses I thought my anti virsus took care of [AVG Free edition and Malwarebytes anti malware]but I get random pop ups for search engines, get rich quick schemes, etc [no pornography]. My games all lag randomly, stuttering every 30-45 seconds for a 2-3 second period. Also my computer randomly sounds like its 'struggling' or working hard, then it fades to black, turns off, and I have to manually power it back up. The whole system is running MUCH slower than it ever did before.

I can't system restore as I'm assuming the virus erased my restore points [It says I've never made any restore points when I had it scheduled to do it every week]

I also repeatedly get an error like message [just popped up lol] that says:

"Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed

A problem caused the application to stop working correctly.
Windows will notify you if a solution is available."

My windows defender fails when checking for updates [says 'Error Found: Code 0x80072efe']

oh and I was suggested by the malware forum to try running OTL but I get an error that says 'OTL cannot be run from a temporary folder!
Please download it to your Desktop or other suitable location.'
I downloaded it directly to my desktop, no folder, nothing yet I keep getting this same error, I click ok, and it OTL closes.

Help? Anything and everything is much obliged. I'm trying to go through the proper channels but at this rate I'm ready to just recover the basic system and move my important stuff to an external HD and wipe this thing clean.

Update:

I ran that Vyper program thing, it found 4 critical erroes, and fixed 3 of them then my comp shut down. Now it seems like a 50/50 shot of booting up [loads a black screen with the mouse sometimes]. When I does, I tried Ctrl + Alt + Del and restarting the Explorer.exe file but it says it 'doesn't exist. I shut down and restart and sometimes it loads. When it loads, Internet Explorer doesn't work, won't let me install a new copy, can't do windows updates to install the new IE, still get these random pop ups, and it randomly says other services don't work/don't exist. It's actually less useable now than when I ran the virus scan.
