Hi - I have been diligent regarding protecting and scanning my computer (following advice given me by "render" from this forum), but today, while trying to upload some files and email them to a friend (records I had transferred to sound files for him) using Mediafire (something I have not used before), I started getting bogus messages regarding the MS Removal Tool. I had the good sense to not believe the warning, but after following the removal instructions at bleepingcomputer.com, it is still there. These are the instructions I followed: http://www.bleepingc...ms-removal-tool

Nothing was detected using their removal instructions, I changed the host file as requested, but the problem persists.

I am writing from a different computer, as I don't want to make matters worse until I get assistance.

BTW - is Mediafire to be avoided? We were trying to not spend the time involved in me sending my friend a disc, but I wrote him to not try to open those files and deleted them from Mediafire after this problem started.

thank you in advance!
