Using Wavosaur Software

I am trying to import a song into this program. The manual says to click the open file and then to find your song and click open but when I did this it couldn't find the file. Then the manual said if the open technique dosent work then you can import the song and when I tried that option I got the song to pop up but all that comes out for sound is static. Can anyone help? I really need to figure this out and fast
