Windows 7 speaker volume randomly resets to zero

Windows 7 speaker volume randomly resets itself to zero. When I reboot or let the computer sleep it resets to zero then I go to control panel troubleshooter and manually raise the volume. This is only a temoporary solution. If I never reboot or put the computer to sleep the speaker volume is OK. I also have the lated device driver for my high def speakers.
