Hi all. Im new at the forum area and not to experienced when it comes to computer lingo.
Basically.. My dads laptop wont boot any windows. I have the same laptop. i took his hard drive out and it boot perfect in mine, i tried mine and another 2 hard drive in his and it stops at the boot screen on all the hard drives, they each have different os, XP, Vista and 7.
When i start the laptop the windows logo hangs for about 30mins then blue screen flashes and i glance 'POWER_STATE_DRIVER_FAILURE' then the laptop restarts.

I've spent along time running around the internet trying to find a solution but im having no luck at all. Tho it needs fix asap !

There is more to this error message then what you are showing.
There should be a error check code with it that will tell us more of the issue.
A bug check code will look something like this...

Bugcheck 0x0000009f (0x00000003, 0x847656b0, 0x85705380, 0x8512ddc0)

The blue screen glances up, But 1 day last week it stayed up and didnt close but it did start "0x0000009f "

• Start your system and at the Second post screen tap on F8 to get to the Boot Menu
• Use the Arrow Keys to Scroll down to the line that says "Auto Start On Error" and highlight it.
• Click Enter to disable it
• The system should reboot and if not then do so.
• When the BSOD shows it will stop so that you can reply with the STOP ERROR and any parameters.

Repair your computer

Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt

Enable boot logging
Enable Low-resolution video (640x480)
Last known good configuration
Directory Services restore mode
Debugging mode
Disable automatic restart on system failure
Disable Driver signature enforcement

Start windows normally

Ive hit it, windows logo has come up, and its still just sitting there for some time still.

It hasnt rebooted and the bluescreen has hung the full code is. 0x0000009f(0x00000004, 0x000000258,0x84a8f020,0x8293bb24)

OK lets start with the basic fix. Turn your system off and unplug it from the wall for at least 5 minutes.
While unplug push and hold the power button for 3 seconds to make sure and discharge and residual power left in the PSU.
After 5 minutes plug everything back in and boot the system. Does issue still happen then?

Does your windows start normally if you restart the system?
Does this happen when powering down and then restarting or when system goes to standby or hibernate?

The laptop doesnt start at all does nothing but; switch on, windows logo hangs for about 20-30mins the blue screen appears then it reboots and keeps doing this over and over.

Can you try to boot it into safe mode?

Usually accessed by tapping F8 at the post screen but on a laptop it may give you the option in the upper right hand corner.
Might be F2, F8, F10, F11 or F12 to enter the advanced boot menu.

Tried all those a few times, it like when it gets to the windows logo it stops loading, the loading light stops flashing aswell and theres no sound at all :s
