Event viewer is in Administrative Tools.
Do I presume chkdsk did run.
Cannot understand two blue monitors - even though I am connected. Send Me a screenshot.
When you click the file tab in paint, click the Save As.
In the window that then opens on the Save As Type it will show Bitmap, click the arrow to the right of the box to expand the options and select JPEG

Go to: http://www.pcpitstop.com
Click on "Free Computer Check-up" listed below PC Pitstop OverDrive
RUN the test ANON
That is at the end of the page that opens - when you click the Overdrive test
If you do not wish to create a free user account, you can still run overdrive anonymously

The Full Tests take about 2 1/2 - 3 minutes on most machines.
When complete, a Results - Summary - Recommended Fixes will be displayed.

Please post the URL internet address, from your Results, back here into this Topic Thread so that we can review the configuration and present performance levels of your machine.

Note: During the graphics 2D and graphics 3D testing, your screen will display some rapidly moving objects.
If you are sensitive to visual flashing, it may cause dizziness. Therefore, look away from the screen during that portion of the testing.

After reviewing the results we will be more informed and may be able to provide better recommendations for you to work towards improving your machine's performance.

While PCPitstop does offer a variety of Paid Products, the PCPitstop OverDrive testing is FREE. Please ignore the references to Paid Products. We prefer to provide manual solution instructions that you can apply directly to your machin

Well that is anon.
The reason it is taking you to the next page is explained on the page. You are using Mozilla Firefox I presume. The page explains all that.
Use IE

There are a number of items revealed on Pitstop from which the computer would benefit from attention, besides the driver issue for the sound card which is NOT important.
However I can see nothing that reveals itself as the cause of this issue.

How long has it been occurring?

Please go Start, programs, accessories, system tools, disk defragmenter. Click to highlight C drive and then click analyse.
If it reports defrag is necessary, please then click view report. What is the amount of data fragmentation and what is the file fragmentation please.
If it is under 10% use that Windows defrag.
If it is appreciably over 10% post and I will send you another program which is so much quicker.

If defrag was not necessary or was under 10% please reboot and this time
keep tapping F8 after post screen. On the advanced boot options choose Safe Mode with Networking
When that loads see how it is on the mouse and keyboard UNLESS it is still always only on a first time boot in the mornings.

Tapping F8 before start-up does bring me to a DOS page with about 8 choices to choose from, but only a split second to scroll to 'safe mode w/ networking' and hit enter. Not enough time. I've also noticed it takes several restarts for the keyboard to work, the problem worsens
