I have FF and IE installed on my desktop [win xp home version] and when any of the browsers are open they run very slow. I have checked my dsl speeds at two locations and both average 6mps at which I should be at about 18mps. I am running my dsl from a gateway and have found the wifi to be running fine...I have a netbook and ran a speed test only to find it running at optimal speed [17mps]. I did turn of the power supply to the gateway to see if it needed to be cleared for any reason, waited five minutes and then re connected all lines...desktop browser[s] still running slow. Keep in mind that I ran virus and malware programs [hi-jack this, Malwarebyte, Superantispyware, bitdefender, norton] have a clean bill of health. Note; I use CCleaner after each browsing session and find that when I go to clean there is a large amount of data to be wiped. Maybe that's normal but seems odd.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
