OK. There are no active malware on your computer, there were some traces of removed malware though that weren't enough to identify the particular infection. Let's clear some stuff and run a final antivurus scan, and then we'll check for some technical issues

Run OTL
  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

    :processes
    killallprocesses

    :OTL
    DRV - File not found [Kernel | Boot | Stopped] -- system32\DRIVERS\ssfs0bbc.sys -- (ssfs0bbc)
    FF - HKLM\Software\MozillaPlugins\@viewpoint.com/VMP: C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Experience Technology\npViewpoint.dll ()
    [2008/07/16 09:18:02 | 000,000,000 | ---D | M] -- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Viewpoint
    [2011/02/23 11:11:41 | 000,000,424 | -H-- | M] () -- C:\WINDOWS\Tasks\MP Scheduled Scan.job
    [2002/07/15 21:20:56 | 003,534,931 | ---- | M] () -- C:\0712i32.exe
    [2002/07/15 21:53:56 | 003,537,441 | ---- | M] () -- C:\0715i32.exe

    :Services

    :Reg

    :Files

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [EMPTYFLASH]
    [EMPTYJAVA]
    [Reboot]

  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered.
  • OTL may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
  • Open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button. Post the log it produces in your next reply.

Next:

Please run a full scan with McAfee and remove everything found. Tell me if it found anything and what was that

Next:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Thanks for letting me know
If the computer won't stay on while scanning, follow the instructions below. Make sure that you run speccy (step2) after the computer has been working for a while, to detect the normal operation temperature of the computer components

  • Please download the Event Viewer Tool by Vino Rosso and save it to your Desktop
  • Right-click VEW.exe and Run AS Administrator
  • Under 'Select log to query', select:
    System
  • Under 'Select type to list', select:
    Error
    Warning
  • Then use the 'Number of events' as follows:
  • Click the radio button for 'Number of events'
  • Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
  • Then click the Run button.
  • Notepad will open with the output log.
  • Please post the Output log in your next reply then repeat but select Application.

Next:

  • Download Speccy (Look in the upper right for the Download Latest Version button)
  • Download, Save and Install it.
  • Run Speccy by right clicking and Run As Administrator.
  • When it finishes (the little icon in the bottom left will stop moving), File, Save as Text File, (to your desktop) note the name it gives.
  • OK. Attach the file to your next post.

Ok it would not let me send the whole file (it was too big) so I deleted the update notifications for the years 2005 thru 2010. If you need those files I can send them in a separate post. Do you want me to run the other programs now?
Thank you!

When I run the Quick Scan I still get that same error message. I did notice that the error message appears when it is scanning HKEY_CURRENT-USER\Trusted Sites...
Don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. I will try and run the McAffe on Monday. Have a great weekend and thank you again for all your help!!

Well I ran the McAfee scan and it came up with no issues found. Waiting for your next move :) Also how do I change the date on the computer....during one of our fixes, scans, processes....it somehow changed the way the date is displayed. Instead of it showing Month, day, year....it shows Day, Month, year. I can't figure out how to change it and its messing up my accounting software (will not let me put in the correct format for the date).
Thanks and hope you had a great weekend.

Hello
Here's how to change date's format

Does your computer still have the same problem? Are there any other problems? How's is it running?

Next:
If you still have the same problem, do this:
I'm suspecting an overheating issue. In order to rule out faulty software, do this (if you prefer a CD version, instead of USB, tell me):

IMPORTANT:
You will need a flash drive with a size of 512 Mb or bigger. Make sure that you do not leave anything important on the flash drive, as all data on it will be deleted during the following steps.

    • Download OTLPEStd.exe from the following link and save it to your Desktop: mirror1.
    • Download eeepcfr.zip from the following link and save it to your Desktop: the mirror
    • Finally, if you do not have a file archiver like 7-zip or Winrar installed, please download 7-zip from the following link and install it: the mirror
  • Once you have 7-zip install, decompress OTLPEStd.exe by rightclicking on the folder and choosing the options shown in the picture below. Please use a dedicated folder, for example OTLPE, on your Desktop

    Posted Image

  • Open the folder OTLPEStd which will be created in the same location as OTLPEStd.exe and right-click OTLPE_New_Std.iso. Select 7-Zip and from the submenu select Extract files... and extract the content onto your Desktop in a OTLPE folder:

    Posted Image

  • Please also decompress eeepcfr to your systemroot (usually C:\).
  • Empty the flash drive you want to install OTLPE on.
  • Go to C:\eeecpfr and double-click usb_prep8.cmd to launch it.
  • Press any key when asked to in the black window that opens.
  • As indicated in the image, make sure you have selected the correct flash drive, before proceeding.
For Drive Label: type in OTLPE.
Under Source Path to built BartPE/WinPE Files click ... and select the folder OTLPE that you created on your Desktop.
    Finally check Enable File Copy.

    Posted Image

  • Click on Start, accept the disclaimers and wait for the program to finish.

Your bootable flash drive should now be ready!

  • Reboot your system using the boot USB you just created.
Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from USB follow the steps here
  • As the USB needs to detect your hardware and load the operating system, I would recommend a nice cup of tea whilst it loads :)

  • Your system should now display a Reatogo desktop.
  • Work it as you work when you're in normal windows mode and tell me if it still shuts down on its own

Yes it still has the same problem. Once I can get it to stay on, it runs great. I will try your suggestions and get back with you on what I find. Thank you again for all your help!

Hello :)
Sorry for that
Your computer is an HP right?

If your computer is relatively new, continuously pressing F12 just after you press the power button to boot the computer should take you to the boot menu. There should be some options like CD, Hard Drive etc, like this:
Posted Image
You should select Removable Device / USB device or something like that. If there's no such option, tell me what options you get

If F12 doesn't get you to a boot menu, try delete button. Tell me what you get
Also tell me what is the make and model of your computer
