Right,

Hello after a very long time geeks :)

I have a problem (d'uh)

My windows 7 file size is massive. Let me give you a breakdown quickly of the biggest folders/files.

Windows is 22.4GB
Windows.Old is 7.98GB (XP I Presume)
pagefile.sys 7.96GB
Users is 3.31GB
hiberfil.sys is 2.99GB

etc etc... you get the point.

So, why is windows so big? and does the pagefile HAVE to be so massive? windows allocates the space automatically but giving windows more than 50GB to run programs etc is a bit of a waste in my opinion.

Everything is installed onto another HDD. yes, everything.

So, what can i delete, cleanup etc?

Often run CCleaner and things to just clean my temp files and all that but obviously the biggest problem is firstly windows, then the page file.

Thanks!

Marry Christmas to all you guys :)

I don't see a problem. Are you running out of free space?

Well, I just don't see why windows needs 50GB to run?

Is that normal then? I have to add like an extra 10GB partition for when the next update/service pack comes along?

For one, it is 44.6Gb. That's 10% difference from 50Gb. And 8Gb of that is for the old version of Windows. You can delete that if you don't ever plan on rolling back to an older version. Since you have another disk, you can always move the page file to it.

Note on my C drive, which contains only 64-bit Windows 7 and my hardware drivers, I am using 32.2Gb. And 44 - 8 = 36 so it looks to me like you are right where you should be.

Thanks. And just to be sure, as long as you have lots of free disk space, no worries.
