Is this computer normally part of a domain like at work?

Is it still crashing?

Start, Run, eventvwr.msc, OK to bring up the Event Viewer. Right click on System and Clear All Events, No (we don't want to save the old log), OK. Repeat for Application. Reboot.

2. Double-click VEW.exe
3. Under 'Select log to query', select:

* System
4. Under 'Select type to list', select:
* Error
* Warning

Then use the 'Number of events' as follows:

1. Click the radio button for 'Number of events'
Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.

Please post the Output log in your next reply then repeat but select Application.

To remove it from the domain you really need the admin login and password from the domain. If you have that then you do:

http://www.ehow.com/...-xp-domain.html

If not I have seen the claim that this would work:

This is a semi-dangerous thing to try....before starting make sure you have backed everything up that you cannot afford to lose and that you have the license key used to install XP handy.

I found a way to do this. Get Microsoft's Sysprep tool. Run it - select 'reseal' and mini setup and let it reboot the computer. During the mini-setup that then runs - put the computer into a workgroup of your choosing. When you are done - all the software you have is still there (and drivers and patches). Some user settings may be altered - but it is better than reloading everything.

Your mileage may vary - so please back up your data

Get BlueScreenView from
http://www.nirsoft.n...nview_setup.exe

Run it and see if you can see what drivers it is complaining about in the bluescreens.

Instructions here:
