Modem sound not present?

I am looking for help with my modem sound., I can connect and everything seems fine.

Win2000 - Agree Systems AC97 Modem

Speakers are functional, have sound in every other way ecept when i dial up?

PC- ThinkPad IBM

IF anyone can offer suggestions I would appreciated it..

Under the control panel > go to modems > the properties > under the speaker volume, move the slider to ON
