[Mumps]

Hello,

This is a rather new install of Windows (2-3 months) and I installed Microsoft Security Essentials as my Anti-virus (everywhere I asked, they recommended it). The other day I noticed it was turned off. So I open it, and click "Start Now" and it gave me this error:

So I check Windows Update, and get this error:

I ran services.msc and noticed that Windows Update was not in there at all...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds suspeciously like a malware infection. Go to the Virus, Spyware, Malware Removal forum, read the first post and follow instructions.

Come back here once you get a clean bill of health if you still have problems.
