This is starting to look like a faulty sound chip now.
When you took it to the shop what exactly did they do?

only cleaned it up and made it go a bit faster as its stupidly slow, he sold it to me in the first place but its always been a dinosaur!!

Strange I'm wondering.

Push and hold the Windows key on keyboard. This is the one with the Microsft windows logo on it.
While holding Win key down click on the Pause\Break key

This should open the System properties window
On this window it will show

System info:

Microsoft Windows: type and version
Service Pack number

Registered Name
Register Number

Computer:
CPU type
Memory
I need all the above info in your next reply Except for Register name and number.
This is private and we don't need to know this information

OK we have a problem now. There is no such OS put out by Microsoft called XP Pro Performance Edition.
This looks to be a hacked version and you may not be aware of it at all. I am going to consult with another staff member about this so give me a few minutes please.

I've looked up your computer and it seems to have a Intel D845GVSR motherboard.

This is the sound driver intel has for your motherboard. It's a realtek driver but maybe sissoft was reporting wrong.

Can you try this driver please?

I will tell you what GTG stand is on this type of situation.

We here at GeeksToGo will not assist you with issues relating to copied, pirated, or in any other way stolen programs or services illegally. It is a direct violation of our TOS (Terms Of Service) to offer any assistance in this matter.

Worse case scenario we will not be able to continue to help. You would have to contact the person who installed it and attempt to get them to install a legal OS and supply you with the installation disk with serial number. It has to be a original genuine Microsoft OS installation disk with the hologram.
If not then you next option would be to purchase a Genuine disk of XP Pro sp3 and format your system and install the legal OS on your system. We would be able to help you backup your data, format and do a fresh install of the legal OS at that point.
