Hey There,

Let's see if I can throw a few suggestions at you to help you out.

1) When you jailbreak your phone it actually modifies your Hosts file, this is usually one of the issues with itunes. Go ahead and open your notes file with Notepad. The file is located at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. Delete the line with apple listed and save.

2) Make sure your firewall is disabled.

Have you tried to update by going to Settings/General/Software Update on the actual device? You need to be on a WIFI connection!

Let me know how it goes!

Have you tried another computer?

Doing it over the phone is exactly like doing it through iTunes. Just minus the iTunes. As long as you have a backup you will be fine.

This was something apple implemented in one of the last updates to iOS. However, I please try the other computer first. Just in case it goes south where it likely will (see below) we want to be able to get it to update after the restore.

Let's see how that works. (More than likely because of the jailbreak your going to run into more problems - just expect it. Not because of doing it with the phone, but just because the JB in general) If it ends up working with no issues, then

Give this a shot as well:

Start-> Programs -> Accessories -> (Right Click On Command Prompt) ->Run as Administrator

then type in:

netsh winsock reset

hit enter, restart PC, open iTunes. Give that a shot!

In the meantime let's try this out!

Step 1:
Click Start
Click Programs
Select Accessories
Right Click Command Prompt and Select "Run as Administrator"
Type: ipconfig /flushdns

You will now see a message saying the cache has been flushed.

Reboot the computer, and now try to update.

If this failed move on to the next step.

Step 2:
1. Select Start and type msconfig in search box then press Enter
2. goto Services tab.
3. Click on the ‘Hide All Microsoft Services’ box at the bottom of the
screen so that it has a tick in it. The window in the middle of the screen
should change when you do this. It may take a few seconds to take
effect.
4. Then click the ‘Disable All’ button on the bottom right. It should un-tick
all the boxes now visible.
5. Click the Manufacturer header so it sorts the list by Manufacturer
6. Make sure all Apple services have a check mark in them.
7. Now goto startup tab.
8. Then click the ‘Disable All’
9. Click APPLY.
10. Click Restart.
11. The computer will restart. Upon restarting, you will see a window.
12. Put a tick in the box ‘Don’t show this message or launch…’ and click the ‘OK’ button.

Try to update now. If it works or not you can now go back and re-enable the stuff you disabled.
If you have any questions about the steps above, let me know!

When you tried on the other computer were you getting the same error?

If so it may be an Internet problem of some sort. I just don't know what it could be.

Can you try a friends and/or neighbors computer?
