Start by downloading Lucid Puppy Linux (lupu-528.005.iso - 132 MB) from here or here.

Next, burn the downloaded "iso" file to DVD disc by following these instructions:
  • Download ImgBurn from here.
  • Install the software then start ImgBurn.
  • Select "Write Image file to disk" then under "Source" click on the "folder icon" Posted Image to the right and select the "lupu-528.005.iso" file location.
  • Click on this icon to "Start." Posted Image
  • Finally, insert the newly created DVD disc into your laptop and power on.
  • Start pressing the F12 key when the Dell Logo is seen.
  • Select cd/dvd/cd-rw from the Boot Menu.
  • If Puppy Linux starts up and begins to load, then you know that the DVDROM drive is functioning.

Please let us know.

Does your Laptop start up into normal Windows? By all of your other accounts, the computer has been unbootable.

A music CD will not work.

If you think that you created the Puppy Linux DVD correctly, try to boot the computer with it; pressing F12 at start-up to bring up the Boot Menu.

If the DVDROM is working, the computer should load the Linux operating system from the DVD.

OK, let's shift gears.

When you turn on your computer and continually tap the F8 key, an Advanced Boot Options Menu should appear.

(1.) Can you bring up this menu?

(2.) Is there a Repair Your Computer option on that menu?
