Hi everyone,

I am doing a masters degree in IT and I need to write a research paper of 15,000 words to complete it.
The issue is I am at a complete loss of what to write about.

The topic has to be about a "problem area" in IT but is open to whatever topic I want, with approval of course.

I've suggested to my supervisor that I'd like to write about issues with data storage, but she didn't seem convinced I knew exactly what I had to do (and I agree with her).

Does anyone have any suggestions about what could be a problem area in data storage, specifically something that could bring quantifiable data?

I have mentioned writing a case study on an imaginary company mimicking a "big four auditor" company, writing about data storage, retrieval, manipulation, disaster recovery etc. I am awaiting a response but she still did not sound convinced.
