It is crashing due to your video driver.

Go to the link below download unzip and install Driver Sweeper.
http://www.guru3d.co...r_(no_installer),7.html

Put a Tick next to Ati Display and then hit the Clean button at the bottom right hand Corner.
Follow the Prompts and reboot when Asked.

Open your device manager hit the start button then right click on computer then select properties then select device manager.

In device manager, click the View menu and select Show hidden devices

Then hit view again and select devices by connection.

Then scroll down right click and uninstall the driver listed below.

Security Processor Loader Driver.

You will be prompted for a reboot please do so.

After the reboot get the latest video driver for your machine below.

Well i managed to get to guru another way and got the driver sweeper. I ran it and it rebooted but it got a BSoD at the windows startup logo.
I tried again and it did it again. Then i opted for safe mode but it has been sitting on the screen with a list of system32 files loaded and
it has been sitting there like that for about 15 minutes with no action at all. Tried in safe with networking as well and it did the same thing.
Am i going to have to select boot from disc in the bios and if so what disc do i put in? Win7 or vid drivers disc?

Odd sorry about that do a system restore from the recovery console.

To enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:
Restart the computer.
As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
Use the arrow keys to select the Repair your computer menu item.
Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
Select your user account an click Next.

To enter System Recovery Options by using Windows installation disc:
Insert the installation disc.
Restart your computer.
If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc. If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or DVD, check your BIOS settings.
Click Repair your computer.
Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
Select your user account and click Next.

On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:

OK. I have it up and running again. 1st i did start up repair, that Blue screened. Then i did system restore to 2 days ago.
That got it going. The only thing i have downloaded and installed in those
2 days is Graphics drivers which i got from AMD site. I opted for 'Automatically select the drivers for my device'. I don't understand how they could be the wrong drivers. I should give you a short history of events i suppose.

My specs: Windows 7 home premium x64. AMD Phenom 9950 quad core 2.60 Ghz processor. 4 Gig RAM. AMD Radeon R6870 1 gig vid card.

About 10 days ago i went from windows XP, which i loved, it never gave me any problems, but i felt i needed to move forward what with DX11 etc, no point in having a DX11 card if you can't make the most of it and the games are going that way now too. Anyway, All these problems have stemmed from me trying to get Max Payne 3 to run without crashing. I kept getting told to update my vid card drivers. I had the latest drivers. I could run Max Payne 3 in XP, it crashed but not that often. The more i tried to get it working on here (win7) the more trouble i seemed to encounter.
In Device manager i have no problems. Everything is running ok and is all up to date. I am totally stumped on this now. The only thing i can think of is to uninstall the vid card, physically remove it from the motherboard. Reboot. Turn off pc, put the card back into the motherboard and install with the disc that came with it. Then try and update the drivers again. Does that sound like a waste of time? I ain't no pc wiz but i have gone down every avenue and got nowhere.
Would it be an idea to go over to win 7 32 bit? I only ask because the pc just doesn't seem happy, having said that, all my other loves run perfectly on this OS, it's just that [bleep] Max Payne 3 soab. Can't believe someone can legally release a game that has soooo many problems with different OSs.
If you want to help me further and you need any reports or anything let me know.
For the record those BSoDs were Event ID 41 Task category (63) Doesn't sound informative or helpful but that is all i have.
Thanks for the initial help. I think i needed those problems in order to move on. (Blessings in disguise if you like) ;)
If you can help i would really appreciate it.

In 'Network adapters' i have I have nVidia nForce ethernet. I take you mean me to uninstall this?
This is the thing i had trouble with in the beginning. It had a warning triangle next to it saying
it was not installed. It took me ages to find the right drivers for that. I still have them though.
I do not know about wireless drivers? I take it that is the same thing as the Lan? The nVidia nForce
is the only thing i have in 'Network adaptors'.

See here...
