Hi, as per above. My mouse is freezing every now and then. My keyboard condition had improved but not my mouse. My computer is currently free from infection with the help of helper, Crowbar. Here is the link: http://www.geekstogo...tch-some-virus/

Even though I had plugged my mouse into another, it seems that it freezes and it is not detected by my PC. As for my keyboard, if it goes haywire, sssssssiiiiiccccckkkk is something I can get.

Appreciate any help. Thank you.

How does it behave if you boot to Safe Mode with Networking? If better then something is starting at boot that is causing the problem.

Read here for your OS:
Advanced startup options - XP
Advanced startup options - Vista
Advanced startup options - Windows 7

Use msconfig to determine what is causing the problem

These are good tutorials on using msconfig in XP, Vista or Windows 7:
How to use msconfig in Windows XP
How to use msconfig in Windows Vista
How to use msconfig in Windows 7 and Windows 8

Click on Start then Run, type msconfig and press Enter.
Click on the Startup tab (for Windows 8, the Startup tab has a link to open Task Manager/Startup tab. Use that.), record what is currently starting then click the Disable All button.
Reboot and see if it runs better.
If yes then use msconfig to enable several items at a time till you find the culprit.

If no, start msconfig and click on the Services tab.
Check the Hide All Microsoft Services box, record what is currently starting then click the Disable All button.
Again, do a regular boot, see if it runs normal.
If yes then use msconfig to enable services till you find the culprit.

Once you've found the culprit, uninstall it or find out how to eliminate it from your system. Simply disabling it in msconfig is a temporary fix at best.
Enable everything else you disabled.

I only went in for a short while. It did not give me much problem but I'm not sure if I'm booting in longer.

Could you run in Safe Mode with Networking for an hour or two and see if the problem occurs or not.

I managed to try today. I think the problem doesn't occur in safe mode. I wonder why.

When you ran through the directions I gave before, did you disable all Startup items and test? If the problem still occurred did you then disable all non-Microsoft services and test?

Hi, today I ran in safe mode. I realise that my mouse is acting the same way as in normal mode.

What kind of mouse (adn keyboard) do you have, wires or wireless? Have you tried a different mouse?

I'm using a prolink mouse and a compaq keyboard. Yes I had tried another Logitech mouse and I'm getting the same problem. I'm not sure if my PC is on and off in defecting them.

Wireless or wired? If wireless, try wired as a test.

Prolink is wired, Logitech is not. Both gave me the same problem.
