Please see http://www.geekstogo...cleaning-guide/ disregard #1 of admins tutorial obviously as you are already a member of GTG.

NB: No apologies are necessary, we understand that computer problems can be both stressful and confusing.

Alrighty, I have been referred back to here ( http://www.geekstogo...7711#ipbwrapper )

I'm thinking it's probably a psu or motherboard issue, I just had my comp shutoff even in safemode when I went to open up aim messenger (yes I still use it haha). I'm just not sure which/if I should replace parts or just get a new system (may be moving in a few months and was thinking of switching to a laptop, but they're so much more expensive :( )

Welcome back, though I am sure you hoped that the Mail Ware forum would have fixed your issue, and you really wish you were not here.
I am sure there are a few more step to be taken before resorting to buying a new computer.
You do have a question not answered at the end of your mail ware topic, > http://www.geekstogo...7711#ipbwrapper
"Where did your get you video drivers from? The latest version? Some graphics functions don't work in Safe Mode."

Just saw that, fyi I responded in that forum with this response: I update from the nvidia site and pick the corresponding driver for my card. I'm actually not sure if the drivers are up to date right now since I just wiped everything, but I was having the issue before anyway and believe it was up to date then. I can try updating when I get the chance later. But at any rate, I hadn't had the shutdown problem before in safemode until yesterday so thought I'd mention safemode doesn't make me immune to the issue.

Sorry haven't had much time to mess around with my computer, I will tomorrow though. Managed to get video driver updated as I was directed to in malware forum but haven't seen if it improved anything and don't think it will since I had it updated before I wiped my harddrive. I did check the windows error log previously but didn't really know what I was looking at, I do remember it telling me lots of errors about kernal power or something? which just means comp unexpextedly shut down? Anyway, ill look at it tmrw and can post a screenshot of the errors if you want?

Managed to get an old laptop to borrow from a friend. Had a difficult time with my computer today, wanted to chuck it out the window argh! I think i've pretty much given up on it and will be building a new system, but I was able to look at the event logs. I took a screenshot, but also tried saving the selected logs as a evtx? Is that safe to post and would you be able to view it? Sorry the screenshot is small/limited, I was in safemode and the event log program kept crashing (not the computer, just program message popped up saying it wasn't responding) every time i tried to hide the left panel...aye carumba. I pretty much focused the event log on the last hour just so it would show all the issues from starting up and such.

So yeah, I'm at my wit's end with the computer and if you still got nothing I might just end the quest to figure out what's wrong here. Don't really want to waste mine or anyone else's time trying to figure it out anymore. I greatly appreciate all the help!

Hold of on uploading the log file I think as it is, it will be too big. I should have specified which part to view and save.
I have asked Phillpower2 for some help.

Ok no problem and thanks! Sorry, wasn't sure what to share, was trying to quickly skim the event log tutorial you shared from my phone, and also limited by my comp since the resolution was horrible in safe mode and I was trying to be quick in case it shut off

Okay, here are screenshots I took for the apps and services log, and since tuneups was the only thing that had any events, I went into that and took a screenshot as well (4/2 is obviously today). Doesn't seem to say much. I did save the tuneup event as an .evtx but I dunno if the info really transfers? Anyway, hope I provided the correct info. Computer is getting more difficult, barely loading windows if at all before shutting down now. Took me closer to 4, 5 attempts to get it to stay on today. Dont think I'll be able to keep turning it on like this! :(

Hi.
You have TunUp on the computer, that, as with all similar type products, usually does more harm than good and should not be used.
Please go to system restore and search the dates until you find the installation for TunUp, select it, restore your computer.
Please let us know the result.

That's something I added only after wiping my harddrive, so that wouldn't be what's causing my initial problem I don't think (but thanks for the tip, think I might go with the free microsoft essentials virus protection next time).

My computer is at the point where its becoming too frustrating for me to try and get it to stay on so I have decided to build a new computer (keeping only my hard drives and dvd optical drive) since my current comp is nearly 5 years old now. Ill make sure I wipe the hard drive again just to be safe when I do install it in my new build. Is there a forum here where I can ask questions about builds, parts, and the like? I have basic knowledge and have been doing various research and might want some advice and a "yeah, that build looks good!" clearance before I make a final decision.

Thank you guys for all your help and time, really appreciate it! At least I know my harddrives can be reused since those passed the diagnostics XD Thanks again!
