hi im new to the forums and have a query for you all, I have a acer aspire 5535 laptop, I switched it on the other day and everything sounds and looks good on the boot up but I have no screen at all?? its just blank, I have some computer knowledge and have tried booting with just the power lead and no battery but am curious as to what to try next in troubleshooting this issue, im sure it could be a motherboard problem but I need to make sure first before I go any further???? thanks in advance for any advice you may have

Hi Ziggy and welcome to Geeks To Go.

Is there a possibility that you could attach the laptop to an external monitor to check if the integrated GPU is ok?

It's weird because I have all lights and fans working DVD player is working but still no screen at all, just blank??? Is it poss the mobo is at fault or the gpu??? How can I test this without replacing it with new parts????

If you have attached an external monitor and also pressed the function key on the laptop to show on the monitor and you still see nothing then I suggest that the integrated graphics chip on the motherboad is dead.

How old is this laptop Ziggy?

Laptops are a nightmare to strip down and to be perfectly honest mate it would be cheaper and easier in terms of time and money just to get a new machine when things like this happen.
