Search box will not work on shared folder

I have an Acer laptop that runs Windows 8. I have a folder on my C: drive of my desktop computer (runs windows 7 Home Premium) that is shared by the laptop. When I access the shared folder from the laptop the search box in the upper right-hand corner does not work. It will not allow me to type anything in the search box. When I access the shared folder from my desktop it allows to me to use the search box. All other search boxes in other folders on the laptop work fine.

Any ideas on how to get the search box to work when accessing the shared folder from the laptop?
