When would the errors be reported? It didn't have any message when it reboted upon completion.
To check for any error logs that may have been generated please refer to the guide here

McAfee and IOBit may not play well together; did you have IOBit (Advanced SystemCare) on your system first and then installed McAfee? Also, any problems with PrivateInternetAccess / Ruby lately?
I don't have McAfee installed anymore. And PIA has been working 100% lately. Thanks.

Where Windows is on the C: drive/partition from the command prompt enter/run chkdsk /f C: and this should fix the errors.

Time to tidy up the data on your HDD, please follow the directions provided below starting with Autoruns http://technet.micro...ernals/bb963902
1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".
3: Click on the "Everything" tab
4: Go to File then to Export As or Save in some versions.
5: Save AutoRuns.txt file to known location like your Desktop.
6: Attach to your next reply.
http://www.afterdawn..._in_windows.cfm
2nd: Download and run TFC from http://www.geekstogo...ds&showfile=187 your computer should automatically re-boot on completion but if not do it manually.
3rd: Defrag your HDD http://www.auslogics...re/disk-defrag/ a tidy drive is a faster drive, please note that I am not suggesting that you use any other product or service at the link.
To speed up your boot times find any unnecessary programs linked to start up "how to" below;
START -> RUN
type MSCONFIG in the RUN box
then click OK
Click on the start-up TAB
Look at each line that has a check in the box, these are start-up items, with the exception of Windows programs and your AV software uncheck the ones you do not want to run at start-up.

The Autoruns log is not too bad but please uninstall all traces of the Iobit software, this so called system optimizer software can do more harm than good and it does more often than not, please see the information here by respected author miekiemoe

As for my computer working better, it is running quickly now, and startup is better. But I'm still having problems with reading certain USB devices. My external HDD work about 80% of the time, but when the computer is just let to idle for long periods of time, sometimes it stops being recognized and I have to restart the computer. Also I had to deactivate the monitor shutting off as occasionally it would not wake up.

Give the trial version of Advanced USB Port Monitor 2.6.8 Build 1111 a look at, details here
Try changing your power profile to the suggestions below;
Power Profile
Active power scheme: High performance

Hibernation: Enabled - Disable this.
Turn Off Monitor after: (On AC Power): 15 min - Disabled already which is what I would have suggested

Turn Off Hard Disk after: (On AC Power): 20 min - Change this to Never.
Suspend after: (On AC Power): Never

Screen saver: Disabled

Download Speedfan and install it.
Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows.
The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
If you are running on a vista machine, please go to where you installed the program and run the program as administrator.

(this is a screenshot from a vista machine)
To capture and post a screenshot;
Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... then after typing in any response you have... click on browse...desktop...find the screenshot..select it and click on the upload button...then on the lower left...after it says upload successful...click on add reply like you normally would.
Depending on the results we may need to run further software for comparison http://www.cpuid.com.../hwmonitor.html
Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

Ok so I've made the power settings changes, and naturally my computer isn't going to sleep so all is good there.
I have downloaded the USB software, but haven't really used it much as the USB issues are not the worst of my problems now.
My computer is still freezing randomly, and at a possible increasing rate. It seems to happen more so while I'm browsing, or AFTER playing a video game (Sim City 2013, for example). Right now for example, I just re-booted and the computer (mouse and all) freezes for about 5 seconds every 30 seconds or so. It will keep doing that no matter what I do, until I re-boot again, and then it may be fine for days... or start up immediately again.
Here is the speedfan results. https://www.dropbox....sn/SpeedFan.jpg
