I think I've missed some things ... I put a micro sd card in and my laptop doesn't read it ... I connected up my granddaughter's Polaroid tablet and my laptop doesn't read it and in fact, fails to install the drivers ...

Don't know what you need information wise yet ... but I could use your awesome help.

After you installed Windows 7, did you install SP1 (Service Pack 1) and all updates? Keep doing Windows Update (Control Panel, Windows Update) until no more are offered.

I DO have Service Pack 1 installed ... and I've got all updates installed. It still does not work ... It does not recognize that I have an SD card in the reader ...

Do you see any yellow marks in Device Manager?
Did you install the driver for the CD card reader?

What is the make and FULL model number?

PCI Device

I am guessing I did NOT ... since it won't work ... not even sure where I would have done that. (forgot about it until I needed it and now I'm here)

Full Model of my laptop?

HP Pavilion g7 series

Hope I didn't miss anything

Install the Chipset and Storage drivers first, see if that fixes your problem:
