I recently found a free program for driver updates called driver booster by iobit and it found 6 outdated drivers that it updated i did them one at a time. When it finished i went into HP recovery to look at something and it says HP assistant has stopped working.Everytime something is done to this particular driver graphics adapter WDDM 1.2 AMD radeon HD 7420G this HP assistant thing pops up.Can't get anything from them they couldn't even tell me whether i needed my drivers updated. So the driver update in question is version 12.104.0 AMD 7420G this is supposed to be the latest, anyone know? My computer is:

HP pavilion g6-2225nr
windows 8 x64 version 6.2.9 IE 10
Google 31.0

Hello nolacs22

I recently found a free program for driver updates called driver booster by iobit and it found 6 outdated drivers

Please avoid using such programs as they often do more harm than good and the resultant fix that is suggested by the software that actually created the problem usually requires a payment to the software developers, see miekiemoes' Blog

If your computer is working without any problems it is best to leave things as they are, many driver updates are released to address known issues and if you install the said driver update when it is not required you can in fact create the very issue that the driver update was/is intended to resolve, more on updating drivers here

I suggest that you restore the computer to a point that is before you ran the Iobit software and then use the computer as you normally would to see if you have any issues with it.

Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your quick reply. I did do a rollback on the questionable driver, but that didn't change anything, i will heed your warning though. The only thing that stopped working was HP assistant.I have created my one time(per HP)burn of recovery discs prior to any of this, but that doesn't involve C drive anyway so i believe i am ok there. THANKS, and do i click a kudos or resolved button? I found the kudos button! When i click the Rep+ icon,is my question still available for further comments?

Thanks for the update nolacs22

If the need arises to update your drivers on a brand name computer such as HP you must install the driver recommended/released by HP if there is one available, to help with this please see here

If the HP assistant is not installed on your computer

Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8)

You can post in this topic for as long as your question relates to the present issue/s so don`t worry the thread will remain open to any questions that you may have.
