Gday.

Re. RAM and the QVL.   Though not tested, it is pretty generic as far as specs go so should have been no problems but, as noted in your second post, the timing is not correct.   Before ordering new RAM, could you try your's in your brother's rig, check speed, voltage and timing in the BOIS to make a comparison.  Do the same with his RAM in your rig.

The RAM timing clock cycle, how long time is set for each instruction, the higher the numbers, the "looser" longer the cycle takes.   The lower the number, "tighter" the shorter the time taken.   A more tech explanation, > http://forum-en.msi....mings-explained

Try adjusting the RAM setting, > page 35/36 User Manual, Advance CPU Core Features.

If available, the last item on that screen should be XMP, Default is Disabled.   Select Profile with the correct timing, > save settings and exit. > Allow the desktop to be displayed, then, > Reboot, > enter BIOS, check the RAM setting.

Do some testing,Then >

Please run this test, > http://rog.asus.com/...g-motherboards/

EDIT

Some RAM, tested on your board by the RAM manufacturer.  Please check it is the MB you have installed.

So I was able to select Profile 1 in BIOS and it had all of the correct speed, voltage and timings for my RAM. I'm going to use the computer a little bit tonight to see how things are working and then tomorrow I'll run Memtest again on each stick separately and I'll let you know how it goes.

My brother (and his computer) will be home towards the end of the week so we can swap RAM.

I checked out the links for RAM you posted-- the first one gave me a 404 and I couldn't find my MB through Corsair's Memory Finder... the second and third links matched my MB, though. :)

Things were looking so, so promising. I was playing games and browsing the web about 2.5 hours and then I stepped away for about an hour and came back, watched a YouTube video full screen and then it rebooted. At the time, I had a lot of things going on at once-- I had Chrome open, Minecraft running in the background and then another game downloading in the background as well. It rebooted immediately once the desktop loaded up again and now things appear to be stable for the moment.

As I said, I'll run Memtest again tomorrow. :\

RAM should be tested together after the individual one.

Let us know results after testing in the other rig and your brother's RAM in your rig.

will have a think about your last restart.

Alrighty. So I am back with some good news! Finally!

So my brother came home on Friday and we switched out our RAM that evening. Since then, my computer has been running with his RAM with no problems. My RAM is currently in his computer, which is running fine as well.

Since we both have 8 GB of RAM, he's agreed to just trade if it turns out that neither of us have any problems. I figured that I would give it a week of regular use before calling the problem solves, considering all of the false positives this computer has given us.

I also wanted to thank you both again for all of the time, effort and patience that you have put into helping me solve this. I truly appreciate it. Here's hoping to smooth sailing from here on out! :)

Sounds a good solution and saves buying more RAM.   Looks like your MB, for no apparent reason, just did not like the original RAM, hope everything remains stable on both systems.

You are most welcome,
