Is it possible for hackers to enter my computer if I'm off line, but my computer is only in sleep mode & modem is still on? I am using U-verse internet thru a phone line & have McAfee "internet security".

Thank You for any help

:welcome:   Ron S,

If your computer and internet connection are not online then you would think not but to be sure it would be best to disable any wireless device connected to the computer and turn off the modem, as an asides the NSA are allegedly now using radio waves to access computers from distances as far away as eight miles

FWIW: Users can help to protect themselves by being careful what they click on and by ensuring that allowing remote access to their computers is disabled unless it required for a particular reason such as online tech support, it should then be disabled when the tech support is no longer required.
