Seemed to download fine but doesn't solve the problem. I keep losing you because the wifi shuts off and I have to use the Trouble Shooter to turn in back on. Very frustrating.
Done for today.... need to get back to the boat.
Once again, thank you for your efforts.

I noticed that in "All Programs" there is a file Intel PRO Set Wireless. If I go into it, I can enable my WiFi Radio and it turns on. It does not stick but I'm wondering if I deleat this file and redownload, that it might solve the problem. What do you think?

I switched to the High Performace mode but the WIFI still does not open on computer power up. I went to MSCONFIG to check the start up menu but not sure what to look for so didn't muck with it! Once turned on manually, the WIFI seems to stay on as long as I am active on the internet but quickly shuts itself off during moments of inactivity. That's why it seemed to be someting to do with the power saver function. Checked in Device Manager again and all looks good: boxes unchecked.
Not sure where to go from here. Is there another way to trouble shoot the program?
Thank you for all this...
Best,
Bry

Yes it does.
And forget my previous post. Just tried to download a new version of AVG antivirus and the WiFi died half way through. When I restarted it manually, it shut off again almost immediately! What gives?????
Thanks,
Bry

Let's try to update the BIOS, maybe it's missing with your Network Controller at its level (I've seen that in the past). Go on the webpage below:
http://support.asus....guage=en&m=K53E
Select Windows 7 64bit as your OS, then under BIOS, download the first file, BIOS 221 and launch it. Make SURE that your laptop is well plugged in when installing that update and do not interrupt it under any circumstances or you'll "break" your laptop. Let me know once it's done.

OK. But let me do that tomorrow. The internet is very unstable right now, (not to mention the electrical service!) It would be better in the morning, hopefully. This is the third world after all and nothing here is dependable!
Talk with you in the morning. Sorry about all the delays...
Best
Bry.

Oh... and what if the WiFi turns itself off while doing this download. Do you know how much time I will have to complete?

The file size is relatively small so it shouldn't take long. Also, did you have that issue back at home before going on vacation?

Saved the download but couldn't launch it. Get window saying Windows can't open the file.
