i want to get rid of norton anti-virus 2002 and all its updates, so i can download and install AVG free. i hear its not good to have two anti-virus programs and it causes your system to crash(dont know if true)

so i have 2 questions

1.Can i have 2 anti-viruses?

or if i cant have 2

2.how do i remove everything from norton and all its stuff?


Ps i wanna get rid of norton beacase it has expired, and i dont wanna pay for a new activation code

I run norton 2003 and avg, they both work well together, but if you want to un-install norton goto control panel > add/remove programs.

ok but isnt there also updates that come with norton, do they also uninstall after uninstalling norton?

1. You heard right - having two antiviruses is bad. They can conflict and end up doing more damage than good.

2. Uninstall it from Add/Remove programs then delete associated files, folders, and registry values.

when you uninstall nortin it will take care of them. also it is NOT good for you to have 2 virus scanners at the same time running. they intefer with each other and they think that the other one is doing something its not and fif nortin would find anything then avg would find it in nortins file not knowing that its already locked in a folder and it will release them again or take the containing file which nortin needs. trust me i know from personal exsperience.
