One of life's mysteries JD  :headscratch:

As the computer is stable I suggest that you create a back up image, you can use Macrium Reflect (free) for this and follow the guide provided by Essexboy here burn it to disk or use an external storage device.

Clueless !! Did not put back my logitech software setpoint for trackball and keyboard, talked to guy on another forum who has same trackball as i do, asked if he had issues, he said no, but felt do not need it will work fine. Does work fine without it, only used to change some button features, monitor battery life and need to unpair and pair different devices through the receiver as it's wirless.

Just thinking if this caused me issues, have not updated this sepoint in a year, also hard to disable a software updater it has.

Never did it this way, how well does it work compared to clean install or refresh ? Have a SSD on system, do have external HDD to use also backup HDD on system.

Follow up to post #53 on Metadata failed error in Event Viewer from other forum, hopefully be some resolve, good effort from this member   http://www.eightforu...-failed-11.html

Using an image of what is presently on the HDD will mean that all you would need to do would be installing any updates from when the image was created up to the date that the image was used.

That part i guessed, i meant how well it works out with no errors.Works well on a SSD ? I know a refresh or rest and even a clean install can take more time putting all back on. We know sometimes restore points may not work in certain situation to recover.

It depends on the software that is used as to how easy/well that it works, most software that is still around is very good but remember it only copies what is on the original storage device so any errors present there would be duplicated on any new storage device, this would normally only be obvious if the original storage device was exhibiting problems such as locking up etc.

Hopefully many more to come JD but I'm sure that post counts are not why you help people here  ;)

O.k. you mentioned Macrium Reflect which is one most will recommend even over Acronis. I understand your point i was never familiar with using such software.

Yeah, i was only pointing it out about 1k just happened to notice it that day. Rarely look at post counts, no, i come here to help others in in return learn more myself. I enjoy computers as a hobby and like helping others it's good feeling when you can.

Explorer has been acting good for me, no issues in long time, been very patient with waiting to put back software little at a time so i was able to see if error occurred.

Seems this issue has been solved as to no more explorer crashes.A few softwares i did not put back on system that could of been the culprit, Nero  2015, Logitech Setpoint, photo program ACDSee and one or two PC games i can remember now. If any was the issue or there was any curruption in files on system and my drivers were always up to date, either way problem seems to be fine now for few months.

Thank you Phill, although I hate the idea of never knowing what caused it, but which is worse having the issue or not knowing what caused it.

Yep, either or all. Seemed to even solve my other issue with SSD not being recognized at times in another post as being the SATA Cable, after the change all is well invested in different cables and even changed all.

Glad you are well, you are welcome.
