My fiance updated his windows 8.1 computer on the 14th, and the computer has been going down hill ever since. It won't download anything, it keeps telling him that there is a network error. It won't scan for windows updates now, and for some reason it won't turn on his metered connection thing anymore. He managed to be able to get into the comp and uninstall the latest update, but it didn't fix the issue. So far, that's all he has found that the computer won't work for. We don't know what else to do aside from considering taking it in to get it wiped. He has a free virus scanner called malwearbytes(I believe is how it's spelt) and if it helps any, he has hughesnet internet (which has been giving him issues since he got his net to be honest.)
Updated, now computer acting really weird

O_Castitatis_Lilium,
The following suggestion only to be considered if the computer shipped with Windows 8.1 as the OS and not if it shipped with Windows 8 and was then upgraded to 8.1.
Try refreshing the computer by following the detailed steps below provided courtesy of Microsoft;
If your PC isn't performing as well as it once did, and you don't know why, you can refresh your PC without deleting any of your personal files or changing your settings.
-
If you upgraded your PC from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 and your PC has a Windows 8 recovery partition, refreshing your PC will restore Windows 8. You’ll need to upgrade to Windows 8.1 after the refresh has finished.
-
Applications you’ve installed from websites and DVDs will be removed. Applications that came with your PC and apps you've installed from the Windows Store will be reinstalled. Windows puts a list of removed applications on your desktop after refreshing your PC.
-
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the top-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, then click Change PC settings.) -
Tap or click Update and recovery, then tap or click Recovery.
-
Under Refresh your PC without affecting your files, tap or click Get started.
-
Follow the instructions on the screen.

Ok, I will get him to try that as soon as he can. I will update on what happens and if it doesn't fix it.
