Hello Nico55 ,
You must be on a laptop?(i think)
Windows 8 has several touch gestures built in and the one you're hitting is the app switching gesture. Here's a list of gestures for your reference.
windows 8 trackpad multi touch gestures
The app switching gesture is triggered when you swipe from the left side of the trackpad to the middle.
To disable it, Win + I to open the Settings charm > Change PC settings > General > look to where it says app switching and turn off

Hi Dashing Star - no, it's a desktop, as here - http://support.hp.co...ument/c04058436
Also, it's not a touch-screen.

My apologies for taking so long to get back to you, non-PC related problems I'm afraid!
I've d'loaded Speccy & have a URL to post, but I'm wary of doing so as the "snapshot" contains far more information than the example you showed me does.
Just for instance, it shows my name, every Windows Update I've ever done, every "Process" (expanded "Task Manager" view), etc etc - on the whole, far more information than I'm happy to put on the Net.
Is there a way of abbreviating the report so that it resembles the example you showed me?
I do appreciate your time & am sorry to be a nuisance, D Star.
(Added) My mouse is wireless (USB dongle), batteries are new, keyboard is wired (USB).

Hi, me again! I thought I'd give this problem a chance to sort itself out if I installed Windows 10 but it's still occurring I'm afraid.
Could someone tell me how to answer the issue I have with the Speccy snapshot as requested above?
I'm sorry to be a nuisance but this silly problem is very irritating - while I was typing this, the open Skype IM window jumped in front of the Chrome window.

Hello
sorry for my delay.
It happens only with skype? or during opening of any other windows?

Hi again - no, it happens with any combination of Firefox, Chrome, Skype. I've even noticed - twice now - that with just Chrome open, something stops that window (the only thing open) from being active. I have to click in it to bring it back "live". The "surround" of the window greys out as though something has jumped in front of it.
I'm sorry I can't describe it using more technical terms, I have to rely on what "feels" right to say.
