Running Windows 7 Professional SP1

I cannot do a search of emails in MS Outlook 2007 "serch results may be incomplete....."

If I search in explorer I get a box that says searches might be slow because the index is not running. Click to turn on.... does nothing.

If I go to Control Panel Indexing Options It says Indexing is not running and the Included Locations list is empty.

Then if I go to programs and features and turn Windows features on or off i see Indexing Service is ticked and Windows Search is ticked.

I've tried scandisk and that didn't help.

I've done chkdsk.

I've done a dfrag

No luck.

Help.

Hi,

Lets take a look...

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.
Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options:

  • List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
  • List Installed Programs

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply.

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local|Temp

Please confirm that the symbol between Local and Temp is really a "|".

Can you right click on the Temp folder to access its Properties then on the Security tab

Make sure that the users SYSTEM, your user and the Administrators group all have full control access to the folder.

First it said that they were not ordered properly I did a reorder. Then it said that Users (CHUCK\Users) did not have full permission, I fixed that. I don't know what all of these accounts are. This is what I have.

Ok the extra permissions doesn't create problems.

Check also the folder c:\windows\temp confirm that SYSTEM and Administrators are on the list with full control permissions.
