Hi there.

I have this motherboard: Biostar P4M890-M7 ver. 7.7, the BIOS is Phoenix-AwardBIOS (P4M890-M7A) and has already been flashed.

And this processor: INTEL© '06 E6700

                             INTEL® PENTIUM®

                             SLGUF COSTA RICA

                             3.20GHZ / 2M / 1066 / 06

                             3046A512 (e4)

                             MC04909

                             5A4351

(Didn't find appropiate photo)

My problem is that the motherboard won't boot when I install this processor, it acts like if they were not compatible.

Months ago I tried to install a core2 duo E8400 but the motherboard wouldn't boot with that cpu, so I googled a little

and found this compatibility list, where the model E8400 is not listed.

So I was like "Well, it looks like you can not put a diesel truck engine into a little 80s toyota", then I made an exchange

for a less powerful processor (PentiumD E2180) and and a sound card. The funny thing is that the E2180 is not in the

compatibility list but it works, then I was like "What the...?".

A time has passed and I want more power, so I spent all of my savings on this E6700 and now I face the surprise that

this isn't working either.

Then the question would be: Is there a workaround for this issue? Maybe some change can be made to the CMOS...?

Gday.

The Intel naming is !!!!! and unfortunately, looks like you do have a CPU, not compatible.  There is no workaround.   I hope you can get your money back or at least swap for a different on, will help choosing one if you like.

Below is a bit around the houses, but best I can do in way of explaining.

You linked to this Pentium  E6700 > http://www.cpu-upgra...Core/E6700.html

Look on the right, the MB VIA P4M890 Chipset is not supported.

On this page the Core 2 Duo E6700 on the right, the MB VIA P4M890 chipset is listed, > http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Core_2_Duo/E6700.html

Clink link VIA P4M890 scroll down to Intel Core 2 Duo > click on E6700  Then, on the bottom right of the page that opens, > click on Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 motherboards page.

You will find your MB under the Biostar heading.

Your MB CPU compatability page, > http://www.biostar.c...=173#cpusupport
