Earlier today while I was on YouTube , the Windows 10 alert popped up like it usually does , but this time it said I have 10 minutes left before restart into Windows 10 (even though I never recall clicking schedule a download or anything like that ,) so I click delay by 8 hours in hopes that it'll just eventually go away. Now , fast forward 8 hours later , I reset my pc because it was feeling really slow. I restarted it and it was hanging on the Windows 7 logo for about 10 minutes , so I gave it a hard reset and let it try to solve the problem once it popped back up.

After it got done and I booted it up it started showing errors saying my windows 7 is not genuine (despite this being a prebuilt laptop I bought from the store back in around 2008) , and on top of that I can't connect to anything on my laptop despite my laptop showing its connected to my wifi and has 5/5 bars. Above all of that , Windows 10 is starting its update in about a hour and I don't know what to do. I can't tell if this is Microsoft or a virus!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

check if you can access the Internet in that mode.

No I can not , despite my wifi saying I do have Internet access.

Can you connect the laptop to the router using an Ethernet cable? In Safe Mode not all services are running so it could affect the connection by wireless.

 

Do you have access to another computer to download files and pass them to the laptop with the problem?

Yeah I've tried using a Ethernet cable. When I stick the Ethernet cable in , it didn't pick up anything. And yeah I have access to another computer.

By the way , now it's just outright saying no internet access and stuck on identifying the network I'm connected to.

Try to stop the Windows 10 upgrade.

 

Please download GWX Control Panel and run the tool

You can use the options:

• Disable 'Get Windows 10' App (remove icon)
• Delete Windows 10 Download Folders...
• Prevent Automatic Windows 10 Upgrades
• Change Windows Update Settings according to the instructions provided by the program

After this restart the PC.

I don't think pinging 127.0.0.1 proves that.

 

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.
Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options:

• Flush DNS
• Report IE Proxy Settings
• Reset IE Proxy Settings
• Report FF Proxy Settings
• Reset FF Proxy Settings
• List content of Hosts
• List IP configuration
• List Winsock Entries
• List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
• List Devices (select Only Problems)

• List Restore Points

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply.

Hi,

 

The log show that there isn't a network card installed besides the Wireless card, we need to check that latter...

 

• Download NetAdapter Repair All In One
• Execute the program by right clicking the file NetAdapterRepair1.2 and selecting Run as administrator
• Click the button Advanced Repair and accept the prompt
• The program should Restart the Computer if not do it manually

 

Run Minitoolbox with the same options and post the new log please.

Check Windows System files integrity

• open the Command Prompt as Administrator (Tutorial)
• type the following command and press Enter
  

  sfc /scannow
  

  Note: This may take some time to finish.
  
  let me know if it doesn't say "No integrity violations found"
