Did you check your spam folder?

No.

I wish I had though!

I'm so embarrassed, there's a bunch of them in there!

They never used to go there ............................... so why are they now, I wonder?

Oh, so confusing confused-and-unsure-smiley-emoticon.gif

Hey fella,

I think we're near enough there :spoton: .

The onlt issue I have is that I've been checking for windows update for about 36 hours without finding any!

The same window tells me that I've never installed any updates!

Windows Update..jpg

Is there another way of keeping up-to-date?

Thanks as always,

Slime.

Windows Updates needs to have BITS & wuauserv (Windows Update) to work.   So make sure they are both running.

We did run System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista (KB947821) [October 2014]

https://www.microsof...ls.aspx?id=1540

Didn't we?

Also this may help:

https://support.micr...en-us/kb/949104

If you know what updates you need (or already have) you can download them directly from the catalog.  You have to use IE and I think there is an add-on they make you take.

https://catalog.upda.../site/Home.aspx

Then you can search for vista AND sp2 or "Vista SP2" (with quotes) and it will give you 6 pages of updates.  You can click on the Last Updated column header and it will sort them with the newest at the top.

Going on a trip tomorrow.  Not sure when I will be back on line.

Hi Fella

I hope you have a great trip.

This thread was about host process and superftch issues and, to that end, it has been sorted.

If I continue having update problems I'll start a new thread.

I think we can mark this as solved.

Thank you sooooo much for your help and patience with these issues.

I really admire the work you and your fellow helpers do.

Many thanks and good luck.

Slime.

P.S. Can I now delete all the utilities I've downloaded during the process?

Yes.  Delete any utilities and their logs.
