I would now also like to add that between today and yesterday I have noticed that upon booting up my laptop my cpu and memory seem to be running higher than before the factory restore. Don't know if that is related to the windows update issue or not.

I am not a techie but I wonder whether the is a loop going on as your machine attempts update.
Moving on
No problem with the FSS log.
Let's try the next solution. If that doesn't help you then I think your best option will be to go to the Windows 7 forum here.
Meantime go to this link and scroll down to Windows 7 Update Guide. Follow the guide there, in particular check to make sure you have SP1 installed before proceeding.
Come back and tell me how your got on.

Well I'm downloading SP1 at the moment. This might take awhile so if I don't message back tonight I'll try back again tomorrow after work or at the very least will be off Monday and be back at this.

The SP1 was apparently already installed onto my laptop. So I am attempting to run the prerequisite pack before the convienence rollup and it seems to be having the same issue as the normal windows update. It currently says, "searching for updates on this computer" and seems like its going to be stuck on that. I am getting ready to leave the house so I will leave it up till I get home and see if it makes any progress. If not then not sure what else I can do.

If when you come back there is still a problem then I would suggest you open a new topic in the Windows 7 forum, see the link in post #17. Hopefully one of the techs there will have a solution for you. In any case tell me how you get on.

Well by the time I got home last night it was still in a loop searching for updates on the computer, so it seems I'm going to start another forum for further help. I do appreciate all the help though.
