What was the result of the Extended Test (Long Test) with Data Lifeguard Tools?

If there is any error message for Windows not able to boot please write it down for us to see, if there is no error message please explain what happens when Windows wont boot.

It passed the extended test.  When you start up the computer it says it starting up windows with the windows logo just before you log in but doesn't go beyond that point.  The red light that tells you that it is doing something will flash intermittently and you hear a click.  I tried using the windows repair disk for startup but the arrow just spins at that point with no results.  I even tried the win 7 installation disk with no go.

Place the CD/DVD optical drive as a first boot device at within BIOS setup utility and save the changes.

Place the Windows 7 Setup DVD into CD/DVD optical drive and exit BIOS setup utility to boot from Windows 7 Setup DVD.

After you have boot your computer with Windows 7 Setup DVD select your language and at next setup screen click "Repair your computer" option.

Within System Recovery Options you have many tools you can use to try repair Windows boot issue i suggest you first execute Chkdsk C: /r command and execute Chkdsk D:  /r  command after these commands finnish restart your computer normally to check if installed Windows will boot. If Windows still wont boot then from System Recovery Options use Startup Repair tool you can also use System Restore tool.

To make a long story short I was able to do a system restore, I'm back in.  Now I'm dealing with an issue with my antivirus saying there was an error and I needed to do a uninstall;/reinstall.  It has failed now twice to reinstall.  Should I run this tweak program and then deal with the antivirus?  Thnx

Have you uninstall the antivirus program?

If you have uninstall the antivirus program are you having issue reinstalling if yes is there error message displayed?

Have you run the Chkdsk C: /r command?

Does Windows still report disk error?

I did the tweak program and then I was able to reinstall my antivirus from internet supplier.  Now I'm just waiting to see if I get another windows popup with a disk issue.

You should also execute Chkdsk C: /r command to repair NTFS file system and mark sectors that are bad.

Good news

The AIO tool creates a log of any repairs made, please check and upload for us;

Any repair logs should be found in C:\ Program Files\Tweaking.com\Windows Repair (All in One)\Logs

Any bad sectors on a HDD should be acted on by backing up and replacing the HDD asap, it is not a case of "if" the HDD should fail it is a matter of when and how soon.

When you run the Chkdsk command with /r parameter hard disk controller will replace the bad sectors with spare good sectors if there are any left. If there are no spare good sectors left then its time to replace the HDD if there are two many bad sectors. Chkdsk tool also can mark bad sectors within Master File Table which can eliminate need of the spare sectors as these bad sectors will not be use by NTFS file system but these bad sectors again need to be mark as bad within Master File Table when Windows OS installed again. Best think you can do is to replace the HDD when there is no more spare good sectors left and having lots of bad sector is a sign of HDD failing. When you execute Chkdsk C: /R command you will be prompted to schedule error checking at next time you reboot your system. Running Chkdsk without any parameter will not repair any errors so please follow our instructions which i have been asking you to run the check disk for many times with /r parameter.

I did Chkdsk C; /R and the command prompt opened/closed in the blink of an eye.  So I restarted to do a ckdsk but it wouldn't shut down so I reset and it went to windows.  I didn't try again.

I had to restart the system to do a check disk.  Your run command does not work.  Had to use Hd utilities to do a Check disk.

The checking for hard disk surface errors may take some time to finish it can take much as 30 minutes to hours even day the time limit depends on storage size of the HDD and how much data store on the HDD. You should not interrupt checking of disk for errors as this can cause file system corruption and data corruptions.

Which HD utility did you use to check for errors i must say these kind of utilities cannot check errors on working online Windows same as Chkdsk command also these utilities use Chkdsk command to check for errors well it depends on the HD utility. The HDD Diagnostic Tool provided by HDD manufacturer are the best tool to repair HDD surface errors and mark bad sectors. Sometime performing "low-level formatting" using HDD Diagnostic Tool can regenerate bad sectors, the HDD Diagnostic Tool provided by manufacturer of the HDD can perform  "low-level formatting" which is a way of  writing zeros to every sectors this process can help correct errors and regenerate bad sectors but  "low-level formatting"  can make HDD malfunction and die this happens because HDD is and was failing, healthy HDD will not have this issue.
