Hi RK...Welcome Back. I hope the trip was a good one?..........

Unfortunately I have not had much chance to progress at all. I have a close relative in hospital & when I am not there I am looking for a job.

I have tried to run the Windows Repair All In One / Tweaking software but it was almost one day spent on that & I needed the PC back so I had to stop on that part way.

The only interesting thing I noticed was just a while ago I ran RegSeeker again to look at deleting the Netflix files left after I uninstalled it recently but it showed absolutely zero files. I then re-ran RegSeeker with *netflix* selected & it came up with just a few. These are the ones I have not been able to delete as they require higher approval.....(screen grab attached).

Do you still think I should run the GrantPerms software & try to delete them?

OK, this is what I did:

Ran RegSeeker & used GrantPerm to unlock then delete files. Emptied the Recycle Bin.

Ran RegSeeker again & scanned for netflix & *netflix*.....all gone. Rebooted PC.

Out of curiosity I ran RegSeeker again & scanned for netflix & *netflix*.....still all gone.

In to Windows Store & installed Netflix app. Ran RegSeeker scan & only got hits on *netflix* scan - nothing on netflix. Screen grab below.

Netflix-new install-before Launch.jpg

Launched Netflix app & it crashed again.

Ran RegSeeker again & scanned for netflix & *netflix*.....no files shown for netflix scan & for the files from *netflix* scan I was unable to select Action - Export as this choice was not available. I reinstalled RegSeeker, ran the scans, got the same result.

Here are the settings I used for RegSeeker, in case I was in error:

If I had any hair I think I would be pulling it out by now!!   :smashcomp:

The *netflix* search is done with the Search Files box checked.  All it finds is the files.  There isn't any way to export these.  The netflix scan is done with the Search Files box UNCHECKED.  The result is a list of registry entries which can be exported.

Ran RegSeeker & deleted all files that came up with scan *netflix*.

Ran netflix scan & unable to delete the files that came up. See screen grab below.

Ran GrantPerm & typed the pathway of the first of the files. Grantperm advised it was unlocked so I tried to delete it but all that happened was that it's extension changed from pri to pri0...screen grab below.

Gonna reboot & run scan again but I think it will still be there.....

When I look at the permissions on my Win10 for the two keys both admin & my user have Full control of the key.

I'm not sure GrantPerms works on the registry.  I've only used it for files.  I was trying to avoid manually messing with the registry by running Windows All In One but since it didn't work:

Search for regedit.exe and open it.

Yes.

Click on the > in front of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

Click on the > in front of Local Settings

Click on the > in front of MRT CACHE

You should see your netflix keys.

Right click on each and select Permissions

Click on Adminstrators  - You should have Full Control checked If not, check it and OK.  If that works click on the > in front of the key and do the same for the subkey.

If it doesn't work then take ownership of the key as follows:

Click Advanced button to open Advanced Security Settings.

You should now see the Change link. Click the Change link to open Select User or Group dialog.

In the Enter the object name to select field, type Administrators. Now, click Check Names button to make sure that the account exists on the PC.

Click OK button.

At the Advanced Security Settings window, check Replace owner on subcontainers and objects and finally, click Apply button to take ownership of the key.

If you want pictures of the steps then see:  http://www.intowindo...-in-windows-10/

After you take ownership you should be able to right click on each netflix key and delete the key.

Repeat for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\Local Settings\MrtCache\

before closing regedit and rebooting.

Hi RK,

I owe you an apology for not getting back to you sooner but I still have an issue with a sick family member so am finding it difficult to focus on my PC issue just now.

My web provider has also advised that it is only on Apple devices that I can run Netflix app without using data so now it is not so urgent for me to fix this issue.

I do apologise but I'm going to have to hang on a while before I can work on this issue again.

Again my apologies but I hope to get back to you soon!

No problem.  I don't lock posts so it should still be open when you get the time if not send me a PM.
