You need a simple 3.5mm Male to 3.5mm Female Extension Stereo Audio Cable, like this: goo.gl/NKtgd4

Then why when I try to plug my ear buds into the TV they won't plug in or work. the plug for the TV has one ring around it and the ear bud plug has 3 rings around it. ??? they look different. totally but they do seem to have the same diameter...

This page: Insignia NS-32D220NA16 32" Class (31.5" viewable) LED TV Specifications says "mini-phone 3.5mm".
This Apple page: What is the headphone's Jack size? says "The size for apple headphone jacks is 3.5mm".

I have an extension cable like I linked to above. It's plugged into my PC and works with my speakers 3-section male 3.5mm jack as well as with my headphones 4-section 3.5mm male jack. I looked around a bit but couldn't find anything with a 2-section 3.5 male jack to try.
