Since updating to version 56.0, there have been no problems. Keeping my fingers crossed. Go to the full post »

Since Firefox 55.0.3 installed itself today, when I try to access saved bookmarks by hovering over the header, it is slow to show or just doesn't - I see a vertical line where the right side of drop-down menu would be (see attached screenshot). What's going on?

My OS is Windows 7 - 64 bit with 1.86GHz CPU and 3 GB RAM.

If I hover over the icon to the right of the bookmark star I get a note:

Show your bookmarks (Ctrl + Shift + B)

I have to click on the icon to see my bookmarks.  That's the way it worked on 55.0.2 too. I can't see the line you are talking about in your screenshot.

I would try running Firefox in Safe Mode

https://support.mozi...using-safe-mode

See if one of your add-ons is causing the problem.

Also try SpeedyFox

https://www.crystalidea.com/speedyfox

Download save close Firefox, Chrome and Skype and run it.  Optimize.  Watch what it says while it runs.  Make sure it doesn't complain about not being able to access something.

I don't have Chrome, Skype or any add-on extensions in Firefox. The attached screenshot shows the only plug-ins I have. I have also noticed that on some Web sites that use Flash, there is an intermittent problem getting them to display properly.

Get Process Explorer

Save it to your desktop then run it (Vista or Win7+ - right click and Run As Administrator).

View, Select Column, check Verified Signer, OK
Options, Verify Image Signatures

Click twice on the CPU column header  to sort things by CPU usage with the big hitters at the top.

Wait a full minute then:

File, Save As, Save.  Note the file name.   Open the file  on your desktop and copy and paste the text to a reply.

Nothing there.  Your Flash is 25.r.0 which is out of date so go to adobe.com and get the latest.

I went to the Adobe Flash page and asked what version I had installed and it indicated it was 26.0.0.151.

Looks like it has updated since your earlier post.  Are you still seeing the problem?

Yes. I checked the Flash player when I first started having issues, but at the Adobe download page, version 26.0.0.151 was the latest offered. I have no idea why the post shows the other version. However, when I do to patsajakgames.com, the logo for for the flash player show a broken image icon (see attached screenshot).

Since you get the green background picture, flash is working.  (If you right click on it it will give you a little box that has  About Adobe.Flash Player 26.0.0.152 at the bottom   The little box just above "This puzzle uses Macromedia's Flash (.swf)..." refers to an obsolete Macromedia picture and looks the same on my Firefox.  The website needs to be upgraded.  Nothing we can do about it. unless you want to contact the webmaster.

So Flash probably isn't the issue.

I just tried to play Ludo at royalgames.com and it took 4 tries before the game would work properly for me. The main page loads and displays, but there is a problem showing the animations on the game board for me. I will try to use IE and see if the same thing happens.

Run the speed test:

Is that about what you are paying for?

Your Test Results (Tested on 8/31/2017, 1:23:17 PM)

  • Download Speed btn-help-icon.gif 23.54 Mbps (2942.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
  • Upload Speed btn-help-icon.gif 2.35 Mbps (293.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
  • Latency btn-help-icon.gif 37 ms

BTW - I tried to play Ludo at royalgames.com with IE and the site said it doesn't support IE.

royalgames.com games have a tendency to overheat things so best to get Speedfan and use it to monitor your temps:

Download, save and Install it (Win 7+ or Vista right click and Run As Admin.) then run it (Win 7+ or Vista right click and Run As Admin.).

It will tell you your temps in real time tho the default is to show the hard drive temp in the systray.  You can change it:  Hit Configure then click on the highest temp and  check Show in tray

IE needs a different Flash Program from that used by Firefox so you may want to use IE to go to adobe.com and get the latest Flash.
