Phill sorry to hear about your PC problems, but in a way its comforting to know that this stuff can happen and not just to the uninitiated.

 

Darrin, Hope that you have recovered from the other day, if at any time you want to pack this in, just say so. 

 

OK so the Hirens USB seems to have gone OK, and this was before i had seen the video, it did take a lot longer than I had expected, but after viewing the video it was only a minute or so

longer than the demonstration .

So I believe the Husb is ready

The state of play with the system is:

 

Power On

 

W10 USB IN 

 

System booted to DOS page command prompt: DISKPART>

Okay, please turn off your computer. Remove the Win 10 USB and or Disk. Install the Hirens USB into one of your USB ports. Make sure it is set to boot to USB drive first and see if it will boot into Hirens menu.

there is, not shown on the photo, the word boot: with a flashing cursor, i take it that is where i type the command?

use your up/down buttons to move to highligh the first option (miniXP) and press enter

yes, have done nothing other than try the up and down arrows and when that did not work checked that i could at least type in a command but of course did not hit the enter key
