HP computer won't boot

Computer was working fine. Then the mouse malfunctioned, wheel quit working, clicks would highlight text instead of normal clicking.

When I rebooted, nothing worked. Computer would not grind away as always. It started to grind, then went silent. Nothing appears on monitor.
