Hi.

 

I've recently upgraded my GPU to AMD RX480, uninstalled all my older drivers with DDU and installed the latest driver from AMD. Everytime I play, the screen goes off and on in about 5-7 sec (sometime it takes longer). And once happened but the screen wont turned on. Then I checked the event viewer and it gave me the bugcheck 0x116 (VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE).

 

I did what most forum suggestions says, such as reinstalling the graphic driver, checking the obvious stuffs like cable, monitor power button, and such. And nothing changed.

Your previous thread was resolved after replacing the PSU, do you have a link to the same model of PSU so we can check the specs.
 
Windows is well out of date;

Troubleshooting computer problems is a waste of time when it is known that Windows is out of date as any one of a number of the missing hot fixes could be the solution to any problem that you may be having. 
 
Get Windows fully up to date then do the following for us;
 
(1) Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply for us.

 
(2) Run Speccy and post the new url.
 
(3) Post a link to your model of PSU.

I was searching for suggestion and they said that underclocking and undervolting may help so I did that a bit. And the problem goes away for some time. I played GTA V and Valorant smoothly last night. Then the issue comes back again this morning.
 
Windows is updated to the latest.
 
I changed the clock, and voltage to default settings before doing the things you need.

We will take a look at your MTB log but most likely no need as it looks like the PSU that you swapped in is as bad (or possibly worse) than the other Chinese junk that you swapped out, the guidance that was offered in your previous thread here recommended a minimum of a "good quality brand Bronze efficiency rated 450/500W PSU" because you never went for a good quality brand you have ended up with a PSU that is labelled as 500W which even by the PSUs own information label could at best only produce 370W but even that could not be confirmed when the PSU was independently tested as the test PSU blew up

There are a couple of Windows problems in the MTB but they are secondary to the PSU problem, the additional drives that you have are putting extra load on the PSU and the computer shutting down unexpectedly will create Windows errors by default.

 

Can I ask why you have a storage device that is formatted as FAT32, not a good idea as due to its almost non existent security protection it is an easy target for the bad guys and malware infection.

 

We are now up to version 2004 of Windows 10, Speccy shows you still have 1903 so you are missing the 1909 major update + the interim updates from the release/install date of versions 1909 and 2004.

I guess the link about the PSU you just gave me is reviewing the wrong PSU or a very outdated one and different from the one im using at the moment. Since the one im using have its bronze efficiency and many of our local internet cafe's uses them. Or maybe im just blind. However, I'll try swapping it with Corsair CV450 or EVGA 500 BV and check if the problem persist.

 

How do I know which is the driver that you said is the additional one ?

 

Im pretty new to storage device formatting, and I can't give you any explanation why it is FAT32 since its like that from the first time I use the PC, and how do I change it to a more secure format ?

 

For the windows update, last time I checked, which, is this morning when I posted earlier post, that there is no more updates. And there's this "The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. Once it’s ready for your device, you’ll see the update available on this page." below the Check for Updates button.

Tell tale signs that a PSU is not very good is when a clear output information label is not provided, this is so they can hide the lack of information on it, below is a picture of another 500W Infinity PSU, take a look and then tell me whether or not you can see the information clearly and in particular if you can see what the max claimed power is, I will explain to you why this is important when you get back to us.

 

Corsair CV450 a definite no, CV = Corsair Value which are just VS renamed and VS = Value Series which are made with lower quality components as Corsair recommend that they only be used with entry level computers.

 

EVGA 500 BV a definite yes, take a look at the information provided by EVGA here which clearly states a maximum output of 480W and 40 amps on the +12V, this information along with the three year warranty period are proof that you can trust this PSU and brand.

 

Please read again my reply #4 and you will note that it says drives and not drivers.

 

An expert could possibly change the format of the drive without loss of data but changing from FAT32 to any other format comes with risk so I would suggest that you back up the drive first before attempting the task, see info here please note that I am not endorsing the purchase of any product but instead suggesting you use the manual approach which is the second method at the link.

 

Windows 10 version 1903 will be supported until Dec of this year so technically you are ok but as previously mentioned "troubleshooting computer problems is a waste of time when it is known that Windows is out of date as any one of a number of the missing hot fixes could be the solution to any problem that you may be having."

Thanks for the explanation. Im posting this reply with brand new EVGA 500BV installed, and still experiencing blackscreen. I don't regret it though since its a lot more quiet.

 

My bad. Those 2 drives is originally came from 1 harddisk. I can't seem to merge it into 1 volume. Everytime I tried to, an error popped up sayin "The selected GPT formatted disk contains a partition which is not of type 'PARTITION_BASIC_DATA_GUID', and is both preceeded and followed by a partition of type 'PARTITION_BASIC_DATA_GUID'.

 

About the windows, so, best I can do is wait ?

The reason why the new PSU is quieter is because it is better quality and able to produce the required power with ease and so is not struggling and overheating,

 

What was the computer being used for when it black screened.

 

Are you overclocking at all.

 

Can you post a new MTB log for us.

 

Ignore the the version 2004 update info but do manually check for updates every day.

I was playing GTA V and Valorant.

 

Not overclocked at all. I even tried to underclock it, and the problem slightly goes away (like happening only once per session).

Software shown to be having problems are Opera and Valorant/Overwolf, no mention of GTA..

 

What is not helping you is the fact that you only have single channel RAM 60% of which was being used just to generate your MTB log.

Run the program, grab any screenshots and attach to your next reply for us.

 

To capture and post a screenshot;

 

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... then after typing in any response you have... click on Choose file...desktop...find the screenshot..select it and click on the Attach This File tab...then on the lower right...after it says upload successful...click on add reply like you normally would.

I was just installed opera the moment before I posted the previous reply. And Valorant is the game I frequently play till now.

 

Some softwares I rarely use isn't. Should I get rid of them ?

Good that you were upfront about the non legit software but also bad as until you have gotten rid of it all and been able to post a Speccy url showing that Windows has been updated to version 2004 no assistance can be offered as we have no way of knowing if you have a legitimate version of Windows.

Understandable. The illegal softwarer I owned has already uninstalled. All of them.

 

New update : I changed my graphic card from rx480 to zotac gtx 1060 3gb and there's no blackscreen anymore.

 

I will keep updating if any updates available to the latest, and try to make my rx480 useful again.
