Yeah,.. but I havent checked around to see what works cause you said to wait.
What happened before was ,.. I started clicking programs and all of a sudden it just went back to the non working state. I'm gonna log on as myself and see if the problem still persists.

I went to log off the new profile and I got the window with the funny characters. The PC froze and I had to hold down the power button just to turn it off. Nothing else worked.
All of the icons in the new profile have changed to non working icons.
I did a housecall scan and it came up with 3 viruses (java byte verify), but I've had that virus before and this has never happened. According to housecall the virus has been deleted. It also came up with a vulnerablility...asp.net or something.
After viruses were deleted,.. I logged off and thats when the window with the funny characters came up.

I've seen you already got some pro at your post, well, that's it for me. I could only give one more tip:

If you REALLY have nothing you want to keep, or you are constantly being attacked by some kind of ***/wares, just do it the quick and easy way: go to msconfig

*ONLY IN LAST RESORT!!!*

go to the win.ini tab
Uncheck ALL of them
Add one new line saying: [format C:]
Save
Restart
On prompt, type "y" for Yes and the disk gets formatted
Use your bootable CD to re-install WinXP
Fixed

I've done this 3 times already on school projects, can't fail.

Oh yeah, another positive thingy: msconfig is a .msc, which means it is NO .exe and can be opened normally :tazz:

Yeah,.. same thing,.. but there was a javabyte verify virus that was cleaned with house call. I've done three scans with housecall and avg and no virus comes up.
But I could never figure out what that funny window that comes up after I log off.

If you have run msconfig there will be a window that wants to verify if you wanted those changes or something. (I don't know whats on the window, cuz I always check the box and click on the left button... Don't know what that button is named anyway)
