Ok, Mike, open task manager. Click the applications tab. Click New Task. On that little window click "browse" then navigate to this file:

C:\Windows\explorer.exe

Click on explorer.exe and click open. Does it let you load explorer or does it give you any kind of error message?

Did that. It opened up the window My Documents. Which happens to be the first icon on my desktop.

FWIW when I followed this earlier instruction from Excal:
Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for System Startup Service (SvcProc) and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled. (if present)

I hit APPLY afterward as I did not know whether to hit that or just OK.

Does that help?

You're positive you only disabled System Startup Service (SvcProc)?

Nope. That is I am not positive. :tazz:

I did disable the one right on top of it in error and then I saw that was wrong so I re-enabled it before exiting. Perhaps I should go back there and check status.

Yes, please, run services.msc through new task and let me know the name of any services disabled/stopped.

OK, the only ones i touched were
System Restore Service (accientally) and Sytem Startup Service.

The first one is showing "started" and "Automatic"
System Startup is showing only automaitc, not started.

To be more direct in answering your question though, there are a few disabled in there, all seem to relate to networks etc... that were never in use. And I am positive that the only two I touched were those mentioned in the previous post.

When I look at it it shows the service status is stopped. Should I start it?

System Startup Service belongs to Aurora, so there is no need to restart it.
